This will be a brief post this week. I have completed 4719 miles of this journey across the North American continent, which I started three months ago (April 21, 2018) in Bar Harbor, Maine. I am resting today and spending some time with friends here on the Oregon coast. Tomorrow morning, I will ride the 40 or so miles to Astoria, Oregon to officially complete the tour.
Please visit this blog next week for a recap of the trip. For now, I will leave you with some raw video— taken with a low-end point and shoot mounted to my handlebars with a fragile makeshift apparatus—that I hope will convey partially what it was like to come over McKenzie Pass. Descending and zooming through such a magnificent mixed-conifer Cascade forest was one of the most magical experiences of the trip. I feel so fortunate to live here in Oregon. It is great to be back home.
